Hello! My name is Thomas and I am a Junior Economics and Finance dual major at Susquehanna University. The Susquehanna valley has been my home my whole life. I grew up in Watsontown, and I commute to university while staying with my aunt & uncle outside of Selinsgrove. I keep myself somewhat busy with a wide variety of hobbies, including (but not limited to) backpacking, sailing, climbing, biking, swimming, reading, and the occasional video game. In the summers I also volunteer at a Boy Scout camp where I teach kids and teens water sports/skills related to sailing, canoeing, kayaking, and lifesaving.
Why Sorrento?
Although I’ve been up and down the east coast of the US, with a single trip out west, I had yet to leave the country. One of the appealing things about Susquehanna is they require a study abroad experience in order to graduate, and I wanted to make it count.
Primarily, Sorrento offers a beautiful and unique Mediterranean climate that was a must-have experience for me. In addition, I didn’t want to be in a major metropolitan area, and Sorrento offers an incredible balance between city infrastructure and a small community, creating a truly unique town. Its location also allows for easy travel to the major cities of Italy, so I can still visit and experience them. Lastly, I thought the Sant’Anna Institute offered a great program with strong academics and activities, while also providing the independence, resources, and time needed to go out and explore!
